Jackie Yovankin I can't think of anything more important than nourishing our bodies. I met with Debbie because I wanted to have more energy and feel more healthful because with all the demands of a day I just didn't. I thought I ate relatively well, but with all the choices available it is easy to get off track. I have been overwhelmed with the wealth of knowledge I am learning from Debbie. Amazingly, by just incorporating one lesson from each session with Debbie I began to feel much better in so many ways. I'm excited to try and learn about foods that were unfamiliar to me. The best part to me is my 5 year old and 10 year old have also been responsive about being part of planning and assisting with meals and incorporating more vegetables into their diets. We have all begun to think about food in a different way. I wish it wasn't something that was so new to all of us but just second nature. I am so grateful to Debbie for her kind gentle way of sharing her knowledge and living what she teaches. I'm so happy I am working with her and I know our lives will be changed forever! | I ran the 10K race today. As Debbie and I discussed, I went into it with the plan to listen to my instincts and trust my body to tell me what to do, given I wasn't sure if I was ready for this race. In the end, I felt great, finished in just under 62 minutes with a pace under 10 minute miles (this is a great pace for me!). When I thought about why I did so well today, I realized that it must have been because I've never been in this good shape in my life. Debbie has taught me how to eat the right kinds of foods, continue a consistent and healthy balance of cardio and weight lifting exercise, and that everything else would follow. Since January, I've lost 16 pounds, have dropped from a size 8/10 to a 2/4, and am currently 9-1 in my singles tennis season (and the loss was close!). There is a lot going right for me right now, and I have to think it has a lot to do with the healthy balance I have in my life. While the hard work has been done by me, the encouragement has been constant from Debbie, even during the rougher weeks, the questions, and the self doubt. She helped to keep me focused that this is a lifelong journey, to not be too hard on myself, and to be proud of myself for the good things I do. I try to keep these things in mind, and I do believe it helps me get through the day to day process of being healthy. So thank you! |
